Robbie Wraith

In techniques ranging from precise, almost Florentine draughtsmanship to the painterly brio of the French fin-de-siècle, Wraith's work illustrates his commitment to working from the life model, his fascination with other people, and how he explores both with equal sincerity.

His paintings of women explore his sitters as both expressions of femininity and individuals who share in Wraith's creative process. These works often includes fans, veils, antique mannequins and microscopes: objects that might indicate disguise, objectivity or feminine tropes. But in every work, he focuses on each model's personality and the particular collaboration he enjoyed with her.

Wraith left school at 16 and went to study in Florence at the invitation of Pietro Annigoni.
